The Just, the hesitant, the unjust. With whom do you identify? - The death of Saul
January 10, 2009
The Bible tells the story of three people: the righteous, the uncertain and unfair. With whom do you identify?
The fair seeks justice, the drifter is just wanting an unfair pass themselves off as fair, just and unjust commit injustices.
We read
"And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him and much feared because of the archers. Then said Saul unto his armor-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come , and thrust me through and abuse me. But his armor-bearer would not, for he feared greatly. Therefore Saul took a sword and fell upon it. Seeing therefore his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, too he fell on his sword and died with him. So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor-bearer, and all his men died together that day. "
Let's look at some lessons in this story that the Bible gives us.
Let's talk first of the unjust:
Saul, no doubt, died by his own sword, not wanting to be killed by a Philistine. But the unjust (Philistines), when they saw that Saul was dead, they took his body and severed his head and took her to the temple of idols. "It so happened that the Philistines came the next day to strip the slain, found Saul and his three sons fallen in Mount Gilboa. And cut off his head, and stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines, around, to proclaim him in the temple of their idols and among the people I Samuel 31.8,9 "
The unfair, this land proceeds like this: always wants to have the honor to say I killed, but Saul was dead. They chopped off his head, but for what? He was already dead. They looted Saul. Such is the world, wants to take advantage of everything that happens, the disgrace of laughs just and the unjust, want the smell of rot. Therefore Saul took to the temple of idols. What to do with a corpse? It would not be right to bury him? How buried were not enjoying the rot, the stench wanting. And what would the stench? When a fair wrong (after all, there are some that just do not miss), they are keen to show and disclose the error, but avoid discloses the positive and good things.
The drifter is also an unfair, wanting to honor and wealth. Apparently it's the stronger side, I say apparently because it can not be on the stronger side, unless God is with him. Take the example of an Amalekite. In II Samuel 1:5-10 , that Amalekite, to say that Saul killed, lied. We saw the real story in I Samuel 31.3-6 he sought honor, and always wanted to be part of the "stronger", but never really, because although the army of David, humanly speaking, was smaller, he was one who had promised who would be king. The Amalekite was Saul, but why? But Saul had a great army, and he sought to honor, vain glory, recognition, fame (Satan always offers these three things for humanity: fame, wealth and pleasure). The Amalekite wanted fame, reward and pleasure arising from it. Perhaps even be called head of something, which would mean wealth. The Amalekite unfair spared no efforts to achieve this, the point of lying, saying, "threw me, because on him and killed him, because I knew that would not live after his fall, and took the crown on her head and shackle that was on his arm, and brought them here to my lord. " II Samuel 1:10 , Why did this before? Why not be sought from the ranks of the armies of David, when Saul was still alive? Because the world is of no value, ie, being the weaker side. The drifter is nothing more than an unjust person, worldly. This does not lie brought blessing some, however, resulted in death, as described in II Samuel 1:14-16 .
The fair, this is characterized by David wanted justice. Justice of the things of God. He was willing to wait patiently for God, so that in time, God gave him the power, after all, what was promised is able to fulfill. Who promised not mind. Numbers 23:19 says, "God is not man, that he should lie neither the son of man that He should repent. Perhaps he would say, not do it? or speak, and not make it?" So if God has promised to wait patiently like David, as recorded in Psalm 40.1 "waited patiently for the Lord and he inclined unto me and heard my cry." David was chased for about 10 years for Saul, was persecuted to death. Saul was chasing him with intent to kill him. David did not want revenge into their own hands. Solomon learned it and recorded with his father: "Do not say: I will recompense evil. Wait for the Lord and he will deliver." Proverbs 20:22
Let's wait and stay on the side of the Righteous God the Father, He who promises and meets!
Whose side are you on? Who do you identify? The fair, the indecisive or unfair?
The undecided there is one consolation: Jesus Christ is the assurance of the indecisive, his word is recorded: "Yet to all who received Him, to them gave He power to become children of God who believed in his name John 1:12 " run into the arms of Jesus, for he is faithful and just to meet what he said: "But some will come to me - that the Father has given me - and never, never reject those who come John 6:37 "
"How long halt ye between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him: but if Baal, follow him. I Kings 18:21 , "you are undecided between two opinions? Know then, there is only one God:
"And eternal life and this, that know thee, only thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent. John 17:3 "
"To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ forever and ever, amen. Romans 16:27 "
"Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever, amen. I Timothy 1:17 "
"To the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, before all ages, now and forever, amen. Jude 1:25 "
Like the Psalmist, if you trust him you will be rescued
"The Lord is my strength and my shield my heart trusted in him, and I am helped by my heart greatly rejoiceth and with my song will I praise him. Psalm 28.7 "
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, I Timothy 2:5 "
As for the unjust, there is a living hope, Jesus died on the Cross to save us and gave us the forgiveness, the forgiveness of our sins through His blood shed on the Cross:
"When Jesus heard this, said to them, not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick I came not to call the righteous, but sinners. Mark 2:17 "
"Much more then, being now justified by his blood, shall we be saved from wrath through him. Romans 5.9 "
"In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace, Ephesians 1:7 "" In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins Colossians 1:14 "
"For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, I Timothy 2:5 "
"If we say we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and refusing to accept the truth. But if we confess our sins to Him, we trust that He forgives us and cleanses us from all error. And God is perfectly correct to do this for us because Christ died to bear our sins. I John 1.8,9 "
The fair stand in faith, hope.
"Let him that thinketh he standeth take not fall. I Corinthians 10:12 "
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord. I Corinthians 15:58 "
"Watch ye, stand fast in the faith quit you like men, and strengthen you. I Corinthians 16:13 "
"Stand therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has set us free, not Repay to get you under the yoke of bondage. 5.1 Ga "
"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope for he is faithful that promised. Hebrews 10:23 "
Remember, Jesus Christ is the only solution for your life!
