SONG OF A REAL MARRIAGE
PSALM 45. SONG OF A REAL MARRIAGE
This song of the royal wedding was almost certainly caused by the marriage ceremony of a Hebrew king with some foreign princess. ). The identity of this king is uncertain, because their war activities (3.5) is hardly consistent with Solomon (cf. 1 Kings # 3.1), and devoted his character (6-7) is not in accordance with the character of Ahab, at least after his marriage to Jezebel (# 1 Kings 16:31).
This song was included in the Psalter because it illustrated an idea that is often used in Scripture, namely, that the relationship of human marriage is an echo, or at least an allegory of the covenant relationship between God and His people. e segs.; #Mt 25.1 e segs.; #Ap 19.6-9 ). The same basic idea is carried to the New Testament where the church is described as the Bride of Christ (see 2 Corinthians # 2.11, and cf. # Mt 2.22 et seq.; # Mt 1.25 et seq.; # Rev. 19.6-9).
Flirt Evangelical
When Isaac was ready to marry his father Abraham sent a servant to his country to choose a wife for Isaac. The servant found Rebekah, and brought it back in Canaan to be Isaac's wife. He only met with Rebecca shortly before getting married, not dated ( Genesis 24 ). This may seem strange, even startling, for a young person of today, but the marriages arranged by parents were common in biblical times. What about romance? And if men and women were not physically attracted to each other? These marriages often lasted precisely because they were not started on the basis of physical attraction or love romantic, an emotion that is often difficult to sustain.
